Wooden Shoe Timberframe Co.

About WST

Wooden Shoe Timber Frames is a company based just north of Wakefield, Quebec, in the rolling farmland nestled within the Gatineau Hills.  Our 8 employees possess the variety of skills required in the design up to the last detail of constructing a custom home, based on the structure of the traditional timber frame.

With your wishes in mind, we step in and the exit where required in the creation process of your home.  We strongly support owner/builders.  We specialize in the structure of the building. This structure is also its beauty.  This is enclosed with a variety of possible insulated panels (see SIP below).  A 3-D computer model is generated for every project. This provides clients the opportunity to easily visualize their dream home! It is very exciting for us to share the vision of designing, joining, and raising your dream home. We love what we do and it comes through in our craftsmanship. Our team builds timber frames in both Ontario and Quebec using hand tools to ensure both accuracy and a hands-on connection to the frame. Each timber is carefully chosen and hand crafted with a respectful feeling for the wood. We have used various species of local softwoods; white pine being the standard.  Occasionally, reclaimed timbers, hardwood or round timbers are used.

Our company is dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction. We specialize in the design and the construction of custom Timber frames. No two of our frames are the same. Various species of wood and detailing can be incorporated into the design to add character and uniqueness to your home.

Structural Insulated Panels

Timber framers and homeowners have made the structural insulated panel systems (SIP’s) the preferred method of closing in a timberframe home. The panels are placed on the outside of the timber frame to expose the entire frame on the interior. This also creates an uninterrupted blanket around the entire structure, a very efficient insulating system (with your choice of R-value). The frame can be raised and covered in panels in a matter of days. Window and door openings are prepared in-shop, making on-site assembly flow easily.
